THANKS All videos [Playlist]: https://goo.gl/dB7XhC ------UCZ4thS46SaWo1lJ8Y71dNrg---------- If Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson hoped to undo some of the damage he incurred early Thursday, when he came up empty after being asked about his plans for handling the refugee crisis in Syria, his appearance on Fox News on Thursday afternoon may have done him more harm than good. The former New Mexico governor asked “And what is Aleppo?” when asked about how he would handle the crisis unfolding in the major Syrian city, shocking the panelists and giving the impression he was unaware of the details of one of the most pressing foreign policy crises facing the next president. Johnson released a statement shortly after, saying he “blanked” and that the mistake served to set “aside any doubt that I’m human,” while also protesting that he was was otherwise well-versed in the challenge the five-year war presented. “Yes, I understand the dynamics of the Syrian conflict – I talk about them every day,” he said. “Can I name every city in Syria? No. Should I have identified Aleppo? Yes. Do I understand its significance? Yes.” “I blanked,” he said. “It happens, and it will happen again during the course of this campaign.”By his Thursday afternoon appearance on Fox News, Johnson took another swing at proving he was well versed in the complexities of the war – and whiffed as he tried to explain the positions of the Islamic State group, also known as ISIS, and the forces of Syrian President Bashar Assad. “If I’ve got this wrong, you tell me that I have it wrong,” he told host Neil Cavuto, then proceeded to get it wrong. “You’ve got the regime of Assad on the east side of Aleppo,” he said. “On the west side, you have the Free Syrian Army, which is allied with the Islamists, ISIS, whom we actually were paying Assad at one point to fight ISIS, but the two of them are aligned, so we have this arms transfer between the two.” In fact, Assad’s government forces are in western Aleppo, while the western part of the city is controlled by the opposition, a loose coalition that includes the Free Syrian Army. While the Free Syrian Army and the Islamic State group are fighting Assad’s regime, they are often at cross purposes with each other. The rebels are said to include some extremists, including a group formerly known as the Nusra Front that was aligned with al-Qaida, an opponent of the Islamic State group. Johnson was correct when he said “we’re also supporting the Kurds, which are fighting ISIS, that are crossways with our ally Turkey.” Johnson, who supports less U.S. intervention, said he wanted to emphasize his opposition to President Barack Obama’s policy, which he said amounted to regime change. “As atrocious as these genocides are, we try to go in and improve these situations, and they end up being the same and in many cases end up being worse,” he said. While he admitted the flub Thursday morning may mean “kissing my chances goodbye” to making it onto the debate stage with Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump at the end of the month – the Commission on Presidential Debates requires candidates have at least a 15 percent average in five select polls in order to participate, and Johnson is below 10 percent – he says he’s “always been served really well by telling the truth. “Hillary’s got the map down, Hillary’s got the names down, but Hillary’s responsible for these policies,” he said. “Hillary and Obama both, and not intentional, certainly you can’t do this intentionally, but this is just how mixed up it is. People need to realize just how complex this is, and that we’re working both sides and somehow this [isn’t] magically going to work out in the end.”
